City Life Church Luton
City Life Church in Luton started meeting together in September 2006. However, the seeds of its conception go much further back, and draw together strands of support from a number of different sources.
Leadership
Gavin Shuker leads the church. He was born and raised in Luton, leaving to attend the University of Cambridge before returning to Luton in 2006 to establish the church. His long term committment is to building church in the town.
Gavin convenes a development team of six. Their role is to look at the key challenges as the community grows and find Jesus focussed solutions to them. They meet both regularly and informally.
Oversight
The church benefits from being part of a wider family of churches, known as Plumbline. A registered charity, number 327271, Plumbline is an organisation that seeks to plant, encourage and develop churches in East Anglia, Ireland and around the world.
The community was established by a group of people 'planted out' of City Life Church in Cambridge and we retain very close links with the Cambridge community. Through Tim Anderson, team leader at CLC, they provide our apostolic and practical oversight as a church.
Other links
We are part of the Fusion network of churches, which seek to develop mission activity in universities. The students in our church are members of a Fusion student cell group. You can find more about Fusion here.
